Ben is a designer and researcher who believes the spaces we inhabit say something about who we think belongs, and who we do not. He holds a Master of Architecture from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, which underpins his spatial approach to questions of identity and place in Aotearoa. His work explores identity, place, and the built environment through a kaupapa Māori lens, with a particular interest in tūrangawaewae and what it means to truly feel at home somewhere. Ben has a strong interest in visual communication, presentation, and how ideas are translated into form, which shapes the way he contributes to Spatial Justice Aotearoa's research, storytelling, and design practice. The youngest in the team, Ben has the temperament of a man twice his age, measured and considered, and is always up for a game of golf or talking about whatever sport is in season. When he is not on the course or following a match, he is playing guitar. Ben is the kind of person who finds the beauty in the brief.
